Nicolas Cage has had multiple career re-sets, but playing “Nicolas Cage” in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is surely one of his greatest. This Scarecrow Zeitgeist 22! event will celebrate an acting life that defies conventional wisdom or common sense, from the zany expressionism of Raising Arizona and Vampire’s Kiss to the leading man of Moonstruck to his recent head-spinning run of inspired maximalism (Mandy), inspired minimalism (Pig), and work-for-hire to pay his debts. When he won an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas, Cage declared, “I know it’s not hip to say it, but I just love acting.” Let us count the ways.
