New Releases for August 19!

It’s another wonderful New Release Tuesday!

First up, the Heroes at the Criterion Collection have brought us Francois Truffaut’s heartfelt, intensely personal DAY FOR NIGHT (@ BLU). It’s the great director’s love letter to cinema and making movies, definitely one of his best films.

Then, the amazing Arrow has Marco Ferreri’s blistering, hilarous satire LA GRANDE BOUFFE (@ BLU), about four bourgeois friends who gather at a villa to eat themselves to death. You gotta see this one to believe it.

As for the rest, don’t forget to check out the following: Kino has three great spaghetti westerns on blu-ray, NAVAJO JOE (@ BLU) with Burt Reynolds, Sergio Sollima’s classic FACE TO FACE (@ BLU), and men-on-a-mission mashup A REASON TO LIVE, A REASON TO DIE. (@ BLU) Horror fans get BURN, WITCH, BURN (@ BLU) as well as the WILLIAM CASTLE HORROR COLLECTION (@), with five films from the great showman. The wonderful Charles Busch’s comedy PSYCHO BEACH PARTY (@ BLU) is here. DIE HARD director John McTiernan’s first film NOMADS (@ BLU), with Pierce Brosnan under attack from goth punk ghosts! A set of contemporary cartoons from the Mouse House with WALT DISNEY ANIMATION STUDIOS SHORT FILMS COLLECTION (@ BLU). And, last but certainly not least, the greatest film ever made, HACKERS (@ BLU), is finally out on blu-ray.
