New Releases for August 2!

It’s the first New Release Tuesday of August!

The big release this week is the blackly funny surrealist comedy THE LOBSTER (@ BLU), from the director of the equally weird and dark DOGTOOTH. This one takes place in a world where single people are forced to stay at a strange resort, where they’re given a period of time to fine a new partner…or be turned into the animal of their choosing, permanently. Complicating matters is a group of violent rebels who have renounced both speech and the idea of romantic love completely, and they’re willing to do whatever it takes to advance their cause. Definitely one of the strangest and coolest movies you’ll see this year.

APRIL AND THE EXTRAORDINARY WORLD (@ BLU) is a gorgeous French animated adventure. Key & Peele must save an extremely cute kitten in KEANU (@ BLU). Shout! Factory has a stacked new blu-ray of the 1978 INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (@ BLU). DC Animation has their first R-rated adaptation, BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE (@ BLU). Max von Sydow gets locked in an insanse asylum in THE NIGHT VISITOR. And on the TV front, there’s THE KNICK: SEASON 2 and THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE, both from Stephen Soderbergh.
