Tons of amazing stuff this week! We’ll start off with the new APOCALYPSE NOW: FINAL CUT (@ BLU). This set has 3 different cuts of Francis Ford Coppola’s epic Vietnam War phantasmagoria: the original theatrical version, 2001’s REDUX cut, and this new version, both in HD and 4K, plus it comes with a blu-ray of the making-of documentary HEARTS OF DARKNESS.
The Heroes at the Criterion Collection have, at long last, brought us Iranian master Abbas Kiarostami’s long hard-to-see KOKER TRILOGY (@ BLU). These three films, 1987’s WHERE IS THE FRIEND’S HOUSE?, 1992’s AND LIFE GOES ON, and 1994’s THROUGH THE OLIVE TREES are considered among the pinnacle of Iranian cinema, and have basically never been available on home video in the US until now.
Criterion also has Yasujiro Ozu’s simultaneously meditative and slyly funny portrait of a marriage in decline, THE FLAVOR OF GREEN TEA OVER RICE (@ BLU).
Need a Kaiju fix? Try GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS (@ BLU).
And last but not least, there’s the new Elton John biopic/musical ROCKETMAN (@ BLU).
Check out the big board for everything else that we got in for sale this week.
