It’s the first New Release Tuesday of August! Remember, on Sundays from now through the end of September, you can get 2 FOR 1 on New Releases! So that will give you two different 2 FOR 1 Days, the usual Wednesday for catalog titles and Sundays for New Releases! As usual there’s a limit of 10 rentals (5 pairs), and this isn’t valid with any other offers.

First up, the Heroes at The Criterion Collection have released Jules Dassin’s fantastic noir NIGHT AND THE CITY (@ BLU), starring Richard Widmark as a small-time boxing promoter caught up in London’s criminal underworld.

 

Then, just for fun, one of our favorite 80’s gems, Joe Dante’s INNERSPACE (@ BLU) is finally available on blu-ray. Dennis Quaid is a test pilot in a government miniaturization experiment, but instead of exploring a lab rabbit, he ends up inside a hypochondriac grocery clerk (Martin Short), and together they become the target of deadly weapons dealers.

 

As for the rest, don’t forget to check out the following: Maori action movie THE DEAD LANDS (@ BLU). Jonah Hill and James Franco together again in TRUE STORY (BLU). J.K. Rowling’s non-Potter mystery novel THE CASUAL VACANCY (@ BLU) has been adapted for the screen. INSURGENT (BLU), the sequel to DIVERGENT. Two lit classics get new versions, Thomas Hardy’s FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD (BLU) and Flaubert’s MADAME BOVARY (BLU). Two more excellent noirs arrive on blu, STORM FEAR (@ BLU) and HE RAN ALL THE WAY (@ BLU). Mads Mikkelsen and Eva Green mean THE SALVATION (@ BLU) is at least the western with the best-looking leads (it’s also really good).
