First up, one of the biggest and most important releases of the year, maybe even ever. Jacques Rivette’s 1971 13-hour French New Wave masterpiece OUT 1: NOLI ME TANGERE (@ BLU) is finally available on home video in a gorgeous new blu-ray box set from Kino Lorber and Carlotta. One of the most challenging and legendary films of all time. It also includes a lengthy book detailing the making of the films and synopsizing each chapter, as well as the condensed 1974 version SPECTRE, and a brand new making-of documentary, THE MYSTERIES OF PARIS.

Then, won’t someone please bring poor Matt Damon home? He’s stuck all alone on the angry red planet in THE MARTIAN (@ BLU 3D). One of the most purely entertaining films to come around lately, with the added bonus of making science cool again!

As for the rest, don’t forget to check out the following: The Heroes at the Criterion Collection have Wim Wenders adaptation of one of Patricia Highsmith’s Ripley novels, THE AMERICAN FRIEND (@ BLU), as well as some vintage Italian neo-realism with BITTER RICE (@ BLU). The new Woody Allen film is about an IRRATIONAL MAN. Want some scary stuff? There’s SINISTER 2 (BLU) and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE GHOST DIMENSION (BLU). Three Richard Lester classics are now out on blu, THE BED SITTING ROOM (@ BLU), HOW I WON THE WAR (@ BLU), and THE KNACK…AND HOW TO GET IT (@ BLU). Joseph Losey’s existential adventure FIGURES IN A LANDSCAPE (@ BLU). For the kids there’s HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 (BLU 3D). The dissection of the genocide in Indonesia in the 1960’s that began with the incredible, harrowing THE ACT OF KILLING continues in THE LOOK OF SILENCE (@ BLU). We’ve got the latest Cumberbatch injection in SHERLOCK: THE ABOMINABLE BRIDE (@ BLU). And don’t forget about season one of the very cool series MR. ROBOT.
