New Releases for July 12!

It’s another glorious New Release Tuesday!

First up, long-almost-lost Anime sexploitation masterpiece BELLADONNA OF SADNESS (@ BLU) has finally had a full restoration. Based on a 17th-century French historical text, loaded with gorgeous imagery, and featuring an amazing psychedelic soundtrack, this is one of the coolest movies to hit video all year.

Then there’s GREEN ROOM (@ BLU), Jeremy Saulnier’s intense follow-up to BLUE RUIN. This hardcore band gets way more than they bargained for when they inadvertantly wind up playing a show at a neo-Nazi club. Extremely violent and tight as a drum. Patrick Stewart has never been scarier. RIP Anton Yelchin.

As for the rest, don’t forget to check out the following: The heroes at the Criterion Collection have released the highly influential vintage low-budget horror film CARNIVAL OF SOULS (@ BLU). Another DIVERGENT movie, this time it’s called ALLEGIANT (BLU). EVERYBODY WANTS SOME!! (@ BLU) is Richard Linklater’s laid-back follow-up to BOYHOOD. Lucio Fulci’s CAT IN THE BRAIN (@ BLU) is a bizarre meta-horror comedy. Two classic westerns from Kino, THE OX-BOW INCIDENT (@ BLU) and YELLOW SKY (@ BLU). Last but not least, new collection ADVENTURE TIME: CARD WARS (@).
