New Releases for July 28!

It’s another wonderful New Release Tuesday at Scarecrow! The big news this week is that starting this Sunday August 2nd and running through the end of September, you can get 2 FOR 1 on New Releases! So that will give you two different 2 FOR 1 Days, the usual Wednesday for catalog titles and Sundays for New Releases! As usual there’s a limit of 10 rentals (5 pairs), and this isn’t valid with any other offers.

BLU = Also available to rent on Blu-ray disc

3D BLU = Available for rent on lovely 3D Blu-ray, though you must have a 3D TV to experience the full glory

@ = Available for sale in the store (but we can special order anything, see us for details)

Now for this week’s haul.

First up are two fantastic releases from Kino by cult director Steve De Jarnatt. His 80’s classics MIRACLE MILE (@ BLU) and CHERRY 2000 (@ BLU) have finally made it to blu-ray in fantastic special editions. What’s more, Steve will be here in the store this Thursday at 7pm, screening his ultra-rare short TARZANA, and after a Q&A with local critic Richard Jameson, he’ll be signing copies of the new blu-rays after the show! Admission is FREE, so make sure you come check it out! Steve will also be at Northwest Film Forum on Friday screening MIRACLE MILE, and we’ll also be there with copies to be signed!

Then there’s a really cool warts-and-all making-of documentary, LOST SOUL: THE DOOMED JOURNEY OF RICHARD STANLEY’S ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU (@ BLU). The notorious Marlon Brando-starring 1996 version of H.G. Wells’ novel had an extremely difficult production, which even saw the original director Richard Stanley fired by the studio and replaced at the last minute by John Frankenheimer. This doc talks to many of the original cast and crew as well as Stanley himself, painting a fascinating picture of a would-be cult classic. Don’t miss it!
