3D BLU = Available for rent on lovely 3D Blu-ray, though you must have a 3D TV to experience the full glory

First up, the Heroes at the Criterion Collection have released a great blu-ray upgrade of both Richard Siodmak’s 1946 and Don Siegel’s 1964 versions of THE KILLERS (@ BLU SALE). Both are based on the Ernest Hemingway story, and of course both are fantastic hard boiled adaptations. You could do a lot worse than two great noirs in the same Criterion package!
Then, after years of being available only on a long-out-of-print VHS, the original French spy spoof classic THE TALL BLOND MAN WITH ONE BLACK SHOE (@ BLU SALE) is finally out on DVD and Blu-ray.
And we’d be fools to not mention one of our favorite unheralded gems. TRUCK TURNER (@ BLU SALE) is one of the best blaxploitation movies ever made, starring Isaac Hayes (who also did the score, of course) as a bounty hunter who crosses paths with a vicious lady gangster (the amazing Nichelle Nichols). A heavy inspiration for Tarantino’s JACKIE BROWN, we promise it’s one of the coolest little movies you’ve never seen.
As for the rest, don’t forget to check out the following: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter MAGGIE (BLU) is turning into a zombie. J-Lo literally enters the mind of a killer in THE CELL (@ BLU SALE). SLOW WEST (BLU) is another in the trend of hypnotic revisionist westerns. Robot gladiators settle international scores in ROBOT JOX (@ BLU SALE). Simon Pegg is a hitman in KILL ME THREE TIMES (BLU). THE CRIMSON CULT (@ BLU SALE) features the irresistible team of Christopher Lee and Boris Karloff. That stolen artwork belongs to Helen Mirren in WOMAN IN GOLD (BLU). Your choice of serial killer madness: Italian style in SPASMO (@ BLU SALE), or good old American nastiness in DERANGED (@ BLU SALE). Lovecraft’s THE COLOR OUT OF SPACE (@ BLU SALE) gets a cool indie adaptation. Arrow has Italian Pod-people extravaganza CONTAMINATION (@ BLU SALE). For doc fans, THE MERCHANTS OF DOUBT (BLU) looks at so-called “experts” who manipulate the facts for some shady purposes. And on the TV front, we’ve got the new season of HOUSE OF CARDS (BLU), and the first run of the new version of POLDARK.
