ALL EYES OFF ME (2021)

Tel Aviv, today. At a party, an anxious girl named Danny is looking for Max, a recent casual fling, to share that she’s pregnant with his child. Through the haze of drugs and promiscuity of the partygoers, Danny doesn’t get far in her search. Meanwhile, Max is busy with his new girlfriend, Avishag. He attempts to realize her rough sexual fantasies but Avishag instead turns her attention to another burgeoning relationship with Dror, an older man she dog-sits for.In these three, loosely connected vignettes, director Hadas Ben Aroya’s second feature film proves to be an atmospheric exploration of a self-possessed generation of young Israelis. Though beautiful, confident, and sexually liberated, All Eyes Off Me addresses the physical limits of intimacy, questioning just how liberated these youths really are when faced with vulnerability. ASPHALT (1929)

From its elaborate and stylish opening scenes, Asphalt immediately establishes itself as a startling cinematic achievement of Weimar cinema. Gustav Frölich, best known as the young protagonist of Metropolis, stars as a strait-laced traffic cop who has the simple task of escorting a diamond thief to the police station. However, Holk’s routine assignment becomes complicated when he discovers the criminal in his custody: the exotic and beautiful Else (Betty Amann). Working alongside cinematographer Günther Rittau (The Blue Angel), director Joe May (The Indian Tomb) takes a simple melodrama and transforms it into a masterwork, with a brooding visual style, nuanced performances, and psychological complexity. BEAST BELOW (2022)

Kao, a once-famous singer learns that his grandfather has passed away and decides to return to his hometown. Whilst there, he learns that due to a severe drought, the mayor of Kao’s hometown has organized a water field drilling contest promising a sizable cash reward. On the day of the competition, the contestants are not aware that there is a mysterious gigantic beast hiding silently 10 meters beneath the ground. The sound of all the roaring engines wakes the monster up and it begins to hunt contestants one by one. With time running short, Kao and other competitors join forces to hunt the giant lizard to try and stop his friends and others being eaten alive. (DVD)

BLUE THERMAL (2022)

Tamaki Tsuru, a freshman at Aonagi University, was overzealous about volleyball when she was in high school. Following a romantic rejection due to being an athletic girl, she joined the tennis club in college to be less athletic. One day, she accidentally hits Daisuke with a tennis ball as he was transporting a glider, causing damage to it. Tamaki was charged with a repair cost of two million yen, but as she couldn’t pay the amount, she joins the sports association aviation club as a helper.
