First up, the latest from Canadian auteur Guy Maddin. THE FORBIDDEN ROOM (@ BLU) is the farthest he’s pushed his silent film phantasmagoria aesthetic yet, a gorgeous and beguiling series of hilarious and inventive films within films, structured like a Russian nesting doll.

Speaking of crazy film fantasies, one of the most notoriously goofy has finally landed on blu-ray: Roller Boogie classic XANADU (@ BLU). This must be seen to be believed.

As for the rest, don’t forget to check out the following: Two rare works from the great Agnes Varda with a double feature disc of JANE B. PAR AGNES V. and KUNG-FU MASTER (@ BLU). THE TRIBE (@ BLU) is a harrowing drama told entirely in unsubtitled Ukrainian sign language. The heroes at the Criterion Collection have brought us French New Wave master Jacques Rivette’s debut feature PARIS BELONGS TO US (@ BLU). Charlie Brown and the gang get a modern update in THE PEANUTS MOVIE (@ BLU 3D). COMING HOME (@ BLU) is the latest from Gong Li and Zhang Yimou. There’s a bloody new adaptation of MACBETH (BLU) starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. Notorious flop HOWARD THE DUCK (@ BLU) is secretly the best Marvel Comics movie ever. Burt and Dolly in THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS (@ BLU). And Herman Melville was inspired to write “Moby Dick” by the true whaling disaster in IN THE HEART OF THE SEA (BLU 3D).
