THE ACCUSED (1949, Blu-ray)

When college student Bill grows inappropriately fond of psychology professor Wilma and tries to commit sexual assault, she fights back. But as she defends herself, she accidentally kills her attacker. Wilma then moves Bill’s corpse to a nearby beach and makes his death look like the result of a cliff diving accident. But her guilt over the incident builds, and police Lt. Dorgan begins to suspect that Wilma knows more about the death than she’s letting on.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991, Blu-ray)

When a man claiming to be Fester, the missing brother of Gomez Addams , arrives at the Addams’ home, the family is thrilled. However, Morticia begins to suspect the man is a fraud, since he cannot recall details of Fester’s life. With the help of lawyer Tully Alford, Fester manages to get the Addams clan evicted from their home. Gomez realizes the two men are conspiring to swindle the Addams fortune and that he must challenge Fester.

CAVEAT (2020, DVD)

When a lone drifter with partial memory loss, Isaac, accepts a job to look after his landlord’s niece, Olga, for a few days it all seems like easy money, but there is a caveat: he must wear a leather harness and chain that restricts his movements to certain rooms. Once Olga’s uncle, Barrett, leaves the two of them alone, a game of cat and mouse ensues as Olga displays continuingly worse psychological issues. With Isaac trapped and at the mercy of Olga, he begins to discover secrets in the house that coincide with the terrifying resurgence of his own memory.

DIRTY LAUNDRY (1987, DVD)

Only in L.A. could you make $1,000,000 at the laundromat. That’s what happens when Jay unknowingly stumbles into a drug deal at the local Laundromat and accidentally exits with a bag full of cash rather than his dirty laundry. When Macho Marty Benedictine finds out what has happened to his money, he puts out a contract on poor Jay, who still has no clean clothes. Enter F.B.I. Inspector Zimbalist, who sees this as an opportunity to catch his long-time nemesis Benedictine. Zimbalist sends his Miami Vice wannabe to follow Jay. Meanwhile Jay meets Trish, a reporter, at a rock concert. Benedictine and part of the goon squad are at the concert too, and when they catch a glimpse of Jay, Benedictine orders Maurice, one of his goons, to break into Jay’s apartment and find the cash. DR. WHO – EVIL OF THE DALEKS (2021, DVD)

The mostly-missing ninth and final serial of the fourth season of the British series Doctor Who, which originally aired in seven weekly parts from 20th May to 1st July 1967. Following the success of the existing animations, The Evil of the Daleks fills another gap in the missing Doctor Who content lost in the purge of the BBC archive soon after the programme’s original transmission. However, audio-only recordings of all seven episodes have survived and have been used here to create a brand new fully animated presentation of this lost classic, featuring the original surviving second episode.The Doctor stars alongside his travel companion Jamie in this recreation in which the TARDIS has been stolen. The story unfolds as the Doctor and Jamie set out to find the missing time machine, bringing them face to face with a very old enemy – the Daleks, who have a new masterplan to conquer the universe. The Daleks force the Doctor to help them on their quest to ‘humanise’ themselves into deadlier living weapons. This particular story is notable for introducing the Doctor’s new companion Victoria Waterfield, first seen in the surviving second episode, and also for presenting the Dalek Emperor.

EDMOND (2005, Blu-ray)

Seemingly mild-mannered businessman Edmond Burke visits a fortune teller and hears a remark that spurs him to leave his wife abruptly and seek what is missing from his life. He decides to flee his previous existence and pursue a new life. Edmond meets a man in a bar who gives his advice that launches a series of mishaps that ultimately guide him through the search for his humanity.

FILMFARSI (2019, DVD)

Sex, drugs, rock ‘n roll — Iranian style! A personal journey through the history of Iranian popular cinema before the revolution and the world of “filmfarsi”, a term referring to the rowdy and melodramatic genre films made from the early 1950s to 1979. Four years in the making, featuring clips from more than 100 films, almost all banned in their country of production, this is a fascinating archaeology of “the biggest secret in cinema history”  — and a compelling window into a lost past. This documentary uncovers a cinema of titillation, action and big emotions, which presented a troubling mirror for the country, as Iran struggled to reconcile its religious traditions with the turbulence of modernity, and the influences of the West.

JUNGLE CRUISE (2021, Blu-ray / DVD)

Based on Disneyland’s theme park ride where a small riverboat takes a group of travelers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles but with a supernatural element. In the film, Dr. Lily Houghton enlists the aid of wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff to take her down the Amazon in his ramshackle boat. Together, they search for an ancient tree that holds the power to heal — a discovery that will change the future of medicine.

KAREN DALTON – IN MY OWN TIME (2021, DVD)

Blues and folk singer Karen Dalton was a prominent figure in 1960s New York. Idolized contemporaries like Bob Dylan and younger musicians like Nick Cave, Karen discarded the traditional trappings of success and led an unconventional life until her early death. Since most images of Karen have been lost or destroyed, the film uses Karen’s dulcet melodies and interviews with loved ones to build a rich portrait of this singular woman and her hauntingly beautiful voice.

KEVIN CAN F### HIMSELF – SEASON 1 (2020, DVD)

Parodying the “schlubby loser with a hot wife” genre of sitcom, this dark comedy series alternates between traditional multi-camera sitcom and single-camera drama. Set in Worcester, Mass., the series follows the journey of Allison McRoberts, a stereotypically smart and beautiful sitcom wife, who is married to Kevin, a husky, self-centered man-child who is clearly punching above his weight. After making a dark discovery, Allison teams up with neighbor Patty O’Connor as she attempts to escape the confines of her life and take control of her fate.

LABYRINTH OF CINEMA (2019, Blu-ray)

Filming in his hometown of Onomichi for the first time in 20 years, director Nobuhiko Ôbayashi’s new film invites us into an intoxicating cinematic world. Against a backdrop that traces the history of Japan’s wars, Labyrinth of Cinema shapeshifts between styles and genres, drawing influences from silent films, talkies, action flicks, musicals, and more – and creates something triumphantly unique in the process.

Ôbayashi, with a boundless optimism, showcases the raw energy within the medium and the power for cinema to enact real change, as three youths are transported through time into the projected world, fated to cross paths with three heroines through disparate timelines and settings within the silver screen.

LET THEM EAT DIRT (2019, DVD)

LORD OF THE RINGS – THE MOTION PICTURE TRILOGY (2001-2003, Blu-ray)

THE LOST LEONARDO (2021, DVD)

M. BUTTERFLY (1993, Blu-ray)

René Gallimard is a diplomat from France who has been sent to Beijing. While acclimating to life in China, Gallimard meets and becomes enamored of Song Liling, an opera singer who wears traditionally ornate dress and makeup. The two begin a relationship, but, unfortunately for Gallimard, there is much about Song that he doesn’t know. Among the revelations that Gallimard must contend with is the discovery that his lover is a man.

MAD MAX 2 – THE ROAD WARRIOR (1981, 4K UHD / Blu-ray)

After avenging the death of his wife and young son at the hands of a vicious gang leader, Max drives the post-apocalyptic highways of the Australian outback, fending off attacks from nomadic tribes that prey on outsiders. Falling into an encampment led by the relatively peaceful Pappagallo, Max at first schemes to steal their oil, but soon becomes the group’s reluctant defender against the hulking Humungus and his ruthless marauders.

MAD MAX 3 – BEYOND THUNDERDOME (1985, 4K UHD / Blu-ray)

In the third of the “Mad Max” movies, Max drifts into an evil town ruled by Auntie Entity. There he becomes a gladiator and gets dumped in the desert where he is rescued by a band of feral orphans who have been looking for help for years. When several of them take his appearance as a sign and go off into the desert, he follows them back to the town.

MANIA KILLER (2021, DVD)

A malevolent religious cult stalks a French village, kidnapping prostitutes and subjecting them to unimaginable torments under the guise of saving their souls. When a young man’s girlfriend is taken by the sect, he teams up with a mob of angry pimps to track down the maniacal, holy rolling killers and put an end to their bloody mission, once and for all.

In the treacherous frontier city of Samurai Town, a ruthless bank robber gets sprung from jail by a wealthy warlord whose adopted granddaughter has gone missing. He offers the prisoner his freedom in exchange for retrieving the runaway. RAGTIME (1981, Blu-ray)

A kaleidoscope of tales from E.L. Doctorow’s eponymous novel evokes life in pre-World War I New York City. A white family finds a black baby in their yard and takes on the mother as a maid. A black pianist, Coalhouse Walker Jr., returns for his partner and child after finding success in a Harlem jazz band. Firefighters, dismayed to see a black man own a Model-T Ford, deface it, and Walker demands retribution. The white family becomes involved in Evelyn Nesbit’s trial.

THE RESONATOR: MISKATONIC U (2021, DVD)

Set in the fictional college campus “Miskatonic University” in Arkham, Massachusetts where all sorts of fantastic and unworldly events have been known to unfold in Lovecraft lore, this film follows six gifted students as they navigate life after one of them, Crawford Tillinghast, builds a machine known as the “Resonator”. The machine allows one to experience multiple dimensions while navigating the unsavory beasts that dwell within them. But things get complicated when Tillinghast realizes that the prototype of his creation has not only released murderous and deadly creatures into his world, but also has affected his own reality.

SAILOR SUIT AND MACHINE GUN (1981, Blu-ray)

Presented in both its Original Theatrical and longer Complete versions, and the first time one of Somai’s films has been released on home video in the West, this landmark work from his early career was responsible for launching teen talent Hiroko Yakushimaru as the iconic face of a generation, with the catchy theme song she performs indelibly etched into the zeitgeist of early-1980s Japan.

SHANGRI-LA (2019, DVD) 

This four-part docu-series focuses on creative conversation and the emotional side of music-making, using legendary music producer Rick Rubin’s iconic Malibu, CA studio as the backdrop. Rubin’s mark on the music scene has been indelible since he co-founded Def Jam Records while enrolled at New York University in the ’80s, helping to launch the careers of some of the most important groups in rap history, including Public Enemy, the Beastie Boys and Run-DMC, among many others.

SHORT FUSE (2005) (DVD)

Shane has been suspended for a year by the boxing commission because of his bad temper. They decide to give him a second chance, but if he gets into trouble, he will be out of his boxing career forever. Shane and his buddy/manager Dogan set out on the road to Las Vegas, where Shane is scheduled to fight against Super Welter World Champion “The Baby Faced Assassin,” who he has no chance of beating. Along the way, Shane has a run-in with a drug dealer in the Quickie Mart, meets a beautiful girl at a strip club, and gets sucked into an ever-growing morass of schemes, deals, crimes, and danger. Will they ever get to Las Vegas? Does Shane have a chance of beating the champ? Can he trust the girl? Will they survive to find out?

SOME CAME RUNNING (1958, Blu-ray)

Hard-drinking novelist Dave Hirsh returns home after being gone for years. His brother wants Dave to settle down, and introduces him to English teacher Gwen French. Moody Dave resents his brother, and spends his days hanging out with Bama Dillert, a professional gambler who parties late into the night. Torn between the admiring Gwen and Ginny Morehead, an easy woman who loves him, Dave grows increasingly angry.
