First up, the Heroes at the Criterion Collection have, after years of our hoping, released David Lynch’s 2001 masterpiece MULHOLLAND DR. (@ BLU) Originally conceived as a TV series pilot for ABC, Lynch added new footage and restructured it into a feature film after the network rejected it. What came out is one of the best films of its decade, a haunting, terrifying, tragic, and beautiful movie about the seedy underbelly of Hollywood glamour and a young woman’s search for love and belonging. One of the best home video releases of the year, no question.

 

Listen up, you primitive screwheads…There’s finally a pristine blu-ray of Sam Raimi’s absolutely bonkers EVIL DEAD sequel ARMY OF DARKNESS (@ BLU). Everyone’s favorite Deadite killer Ash has been catapulted back to medieval times after the events of EVIL DEAD II, and now he finds himself battling an army of the undead and trying to make it back to the present and his job at S-Mart. You’ve seen this movie a hundred times, but it’s never looked so good. Hard to believe something this crazy ever even got made by a major studio.
