New Releases for September 6!

It’s the first New Release Tuesday of September!

Usually our favorite releases are great special editions of new or classic films, but this week it’s the limited TV series THE PEOPLE VS. O.J. SIMPSON (BLU), a ten-part dramatization of one of the more notorious incidents of the 1990s. This show is not only packed with incredible performances and historical detail, but it also goes above and beyond what you’d expect in investigating issues of race, class, and politics. Truly one of the best shows of the year.

Then, finally arriving on blu-ray in a lovely special edition, the movie scientifically engineered to make adults cry…you guessed it, THE IRON GIANT (@ BLU).

As for the rest, don’t forget to check out the following: The Heroes at the Criterion Collection have a lovely blu-ray upgrade of Carol Reed’s classic spy thriller NIGHT TRAIN TO MUNICH (@ BLU). Bryan Cranston is LBJ in ALL THE WAY (@ BLU). HARD TARGET 2 (BLU) is the sequel you didn’t know you wanted. Or is that NOW YOU SEE ME 2 (BLU)? Whit Stillman does Jane Austen in LOVE & FRIENDSHIP (BLU). Longtime Scarecrow fave ONCE WERE WARRIORS (@ BLU) gets a restored release. Two double-features of Hammer horror with THE TWO FACES OF DR. JEKYLL / THE GORGON (@ BLU) and THE REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN / CURSE OF THE MUMMY’S TOMB (@ BLU). George Clooney takes on the financial establishment in MONEY MONSTER (BLU). Two Peanuts movies, A BOY NAMED CHARLIE BROWN (@ BLU) and SNOOPY COME HOME (@ BLU). TALE OF TALES (@ BLU) features three interlocked dark fairy tales. WHAT HAPPENED MISS SIMONE? (@ BLU) is a terrific doc about the unforgettable Nina Simone. Kelly Reichardt’s first film RIVER OF GRASS (BLU) has a gorgeously restored release. And finally, the timeless Patrick Swayze classic ROAD HOUSE (@ BLU) is out in a two-disk special edition. Be nice…until it’s time to not be nice.
