New Releases for September 8!

Hope everyone had a lovely long Labor Day weekend. Now it’s time for New Release Tuesday!

First up, the Heroes at the Criterion Collection have brought us another suspense classic from Brian De Palma. DRESSED TO KILL is one of his most popular and fascinating films, notorious (and some would say problematic) for reasons we won’t spoil here. Suffice it to say that this is a sensational cocktail of early slasher films and Hitchcock high-style.

Then there’s a real treat, under-appreciated Coen Brothers film THE MAN WHO WASN’T THERE. Billy Bob Thornton stars as a meek barber who finds himself caught up in all manner of murder and intrigue when he discovers his wife may be having an affair. This is a fantastic noir-comedy tinged with patented Coens absurdism, and Roger Deakins’ amazing cinematography shines on this new blu-ray.

Look out for the zombie gladiators in MORITURIS: LEGIONS OF THE DEAD (@ BLU). Say a final RIP for Wes Craven with the new blu-ray of his supremely weird SHOCKER (@ BLU). And Kris Kristofferson tries to clean up a corrupt town in VIGILANTE FORCE (@ BLU).
